On Speak to and Talk to: A Corpora-Based Analysis

The ultimate goal of this paper is to compare speak with talk in four corpora. In the Movie Corpus (Movie (MC). 20, January 2022. Online https://english-corpora.org /movies/), was preferable films six countries (America, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland). It worth mentioning that (2,620 tokens) (18,667 most preferred types 2010s. TV (TV (TVC). /tv/), countries’ Ireland) programs. noteworthy (8,279 (59,703 reached a peak BNC (British National (BNC). https://corpus.byu.edu/bnc), show same pattern three genres, whereas they different genres. That is, 42.85% as their ranking. Finally, COCA (Corpus Contemporary American English (COCA). https://corpus.byu.edu/coca) clearly shows forty two nouns are collocations both to.
